The Russian Consulate General in New York asked the US State Department to ensure the security of the diplomatic mission and complained about a vandal that stained the facade of the building with red paint on Tuesday, February 2. A consular officer told RIA Novosti.
“From 14.00 to 20.00, an anti-Russian rally was held near the building of the Consulate General, during which an unknown person wearing a mask fired paint several times. The facade, part of the building was stained with red paint, ”said the agency's source.
According to him, attempts to contact law enforcement officers were made repeatedly, but they “did not find it possible to appear at the consulate” from two to eight hours. “We have sent an appeal to the Department of Foreign Missions in New York of the State Department with a request to ensure the security of the Consulate General,” the source added.
Earlier, the Russian Consulate General in New York complained about the lack of facsimile communication with Russia. According to one diplomat, she has been gone for several months.
On the evening of January 19, it became known that all city telephone lines were cut off at the Russian Consulate General in New York. Also, periodically there are problems with access to the Internet, the embassy staff said. According to them, there were no communication problems before.
