The Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) has responded to the sanctions of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) against Russian and Belarusian biathletes. This was reported on the website of the organization.
The RBU announced that Russian athletes will miss the final stages of the World Cup due to the decision of the IBU. The RBU regarded the position of the international organization as direct discrimination against Russian athletes. “We are outraged by such actions by the IBU,” the statement said.
Earlier it became known that the IBU made a number of decisions that restrict the rights of Russian and Belarusian athletes at the World Cup. In particular, the biathletes of these countries were banned from using national symbols and flags, and they were also obliged to perform in a neutral status.
Against the background of the special operation of the Russian armed forces on the territory of Ukraine, St. Petersburg was deprived of the right to host the Champions League final. The corresponding decision was made at an emergency meeting of the executive committee of the Union of European Football Associations.
