The journalists learned that the Russian government is developing a new federal program “Brain, Health, Intelligence, Innovation”. Within its framework, brain-computer interfaces will be developed.
According to Kommersant, the federal program has already been approved by Vladimir Putin. Its cost is estimated at 54 billion rubles. The program is designed until 2029.
It will allow the development of neurointerface technologies that allow control of a computer using electrical signals from the brain. To do this, a chip must be implanted into the human skull. The authors of the program even plan to create interfaces for controlling aircraft and nuclear power plants.
Experts noted that brain-computer technologies have long been developed in Russia for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. They also added that our country has a number of advantages in terms of the development of neural interfaces, including the presence of highly qualified scientists.
