The President of Lithuania warned of the high likelihood of a new Russian aggression against Ukraine and suggested that this could lead to the implementation of the & # 8220; worst-case scenario & # 8221 ;.
He said this after a conversation between the leaders of the Bucharest Nine countries with US President Joe Biden.
– As I told the US President, this is a bell not only for Ukraine, it is also a bell for the entire eastern flank NATO. The Baltic countries also feel a direct threat, – said Nauseda.
He clarified that the leaders of the nine agreed with Biden that in this case, their military response to Russia would be adequate.
– We can count on reinforcements in a military sense, which will make us feel more secure … there are many signs that show that a worse scenario could also come true – a military intervention in the territory of a sovereign independent state. Together we must do everything to prevent this worst-case scenario, the President of Lithuania said.
He called deterrence the best way to instill respect for the rights of independent states.
< p> At the same time, as Nauseda noted, Biden takes the necessary leadership and rallies forces.
– The answer will be the toughest: the entire world and even European political architecture will change dramatically, and the nature of the sanctions will be the toughest, – warned Gitanas Nauseda.
