The International Biathlon Union (IBU) has announced sanctions against the national teams of Russia and Belarus. This was reported on the website of the organization.
Now, at the stages of the World Cup, Belarusian and Russian biathletes will perform in a neutral status. In addition, national anthems will not be played during the awards, and biathletes will not be able to receive points in the Nations Cup and relay races. The ban will also affect national symbols and flags. The next stage of the WC will be held in Finnish Kontiolahti from 3 to 6 March.
Earlier, the national teams of Poland and Sweden announced their refusal to play with the Russians in the selection for the World Cup in Qatar. The football authorities of the countries have appealed to the International Football Federation (FIFA) with a request to cancel the matches.
Against the background of a special operation of the Russian armed forces on the territory of Ukraine, St. Petersburg was deprived of the right to host the Champions League final. The corresponding decision was made at an emergency meeting of the executive committee of the Union of European Football Associations.
