There is a debate among US senators and congressmen about the most painful sanctions for causing serious damage to Russia's economic and political image. Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov spoke about the preparation of anti-Russian sanctions, his words are reported by RIA Novosti.

“Today it is difficult to say what the Democrats and Republicans will come to. The feeling is that the sanctions will be developed… The only question is when they will be introduced,” the diplomat said, noting that he sees the existence of an inter-party consensus, and the debate is only about how to hurt the Russian side.

On February 6, Antonov announced that by June 30, 28 Russian diplomats would be forced to leave the United States. He recalled that 27 diplomats had already left Washington last week. According to the ambassador, the American side threatened arrests if the deadlines were not met.
