Russian Ambassador Alexei Yerkhov was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry. The Turkish newspaper Hurriyet writes about it.

According to the newspaper, this happened on Monday 22 March. Yerkhov was summoned to the Turkish Foreign Ministry in Ankara, where they allegedly “expressed concern” about security problems in the Syrian province of Idlib near the border with Turkey.

The ministry allegedly raised the issue that Russia's strikes were, among other things, concentrated in areas where civilians live. According to Ankara, this threatens stability and security in the region.

On March 21, it was reported that Russian forces launched an airstrike on areas in northwestern Syria near the border with Turkey. One of the strikes – near a border crossing on the outskirts of the city of Sarmada in Idlib province – came from an airplane. Another surface-to-surface missile hit a target in the village of Kakh. This is the first such attack in 2021.
