Next year, Moscow and Vienna will develop relations by implementing a number of joint projects, Russian Ambassador to Austria Dmitry Lyubinsky predicted. He made the relevant statements in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“On the next agenda – and I would like to highlight this topic separately – the activation of long-standing traditional partnerships between the capitals of our countries – Moscow and Vienna,” he explained. The authorities of both the Russian and Austrian capital are determined to implement joint initiatives, added Lyubinsky.
In the spring of 2022, the embassy also plans to hold the Day of Russian Regions forum, which will be the second. “The work of the honorary consuls of Russia in Austria from among the authoritative local businessmen contributes to the strengthening of interregional cooperation,” the diplomat said.
Lyubinsky also added that the Austrian authorities oppose the use of Nord Stream 2 as an instrument of pressure on Russia. Vienna, according to the Russian ambassador, supports the implementation of the project. As the diplomat explained, this is also evidenced by the speeches of the country's Chancellor Karl Nehammer and Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg.
