Russian air defense systems repelled an attack on the Khmeimim airbase in Syria on February 9. This was announced by Rear Admiral Vyacheslav Sytnik, Deputy Head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Warring Parties (CPVS) in the SAR, RIA Novosti reports.
The attack was carried out at 19:45 Moscow time using long-range multiple launch rocket systems. It was established that the shelling was carried out from the territory of the Idlib de-escalation zone, controlled by illegal armed groups.
As a result of the attack, there were no casualties and no material damage. The airbase operates as planned.
On February 6, it was reported that a Russian Orlan-10 drone was shot down near the Syrian city of Ain Issa (Raqqa region). According to one version, the Kurdish formations did it by mistake, since they mistook it for a Turkish drone.
