Former commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Vyacheslav Popov, commented on the journalist's question about why the Russian Navy does not have as many ships as the American Navy.
According to Popov, the point is not the quantity, but the manufacturability of the technology. Despite the small number of ships in comparison with the United States, the Russian fleet is able to fully ensure the safety of the country's water area. He also noted that the ships will not be built to race with the Americans, but in the required number to ensure the military security of our country from any strategic direction.
“If we evaluate in terms of the quantitative composition, then we do not have such a number of equipment as in the United States, especially jointly with NATO. But we also have no idea to have such a quantitative composition. We compete not by numbers, but by skill, modernity, ”the admiral emphasized.
