The Russian company Navigator is ready to develop anti-collision installations for warships based on technologies used in aviation. General Director of the enterprise Sergey Baburov told about it on the form “Army-2021”.
According to him, since the 1990s, the company still has developments of similar devices. Aircraft collision avoidance systems can also be adapted to ships. Baburov also touched on aviation concepts, such as ADS-B – automatic dependent surveillance-broadcasting, with the help of which aircraft transmit their location coordinates, speed and other data to everyone. According to the engineer, “if in aviation there is the concept of ADS-B, then in the maritime theme it is called a little differently, but it performs approximately the same function.”
Baburov also touched on the Korma portable landing unit, which, according to him, can already be used to create collision avoidance systems for ships. This installation was developed for a long time and performs approximately the same functions as aircraft systems.
