Russia will not send its delegation to the Munich Security Conference: what is the reason

by alex

Earlier, Russian President Putin refused to participate in the event.

Official representatives of the Russian Federation will not be participants in the Munich Security Conference, which will be held February 18-20.

This was announced at a briefing by the press secretary of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

The conference, which was “formerly a respected institution”, she said, has lost its “inclusiveness and objectivity” by becoming a transatlantic forum. Consequently, Russia “lost interest in this event.”

The Russian publication Kommersant names two probable reasons for this decision. The first of these is that the Russians do not have a vaccination certificate recognized by the European Union, so they will be forced to undergo a six-day quarantine upon arrival in Munich. Russian certificates of illness are also not accepted in the EU.

In addition, Russia is annoyed by criticism from Western countries that do not approve of Moscow's foreign policy.

Recall that earlier the President of the aggressor country Vladimir Putin refused to participate in the Munich Security Conference in any format. He did not agree to come in person or connect to the conference online.
