Russia has extended the period of deployment of its military facilities in Belarus. We are talking about two facilities that the Kremlin uses in the neighboring country free of charge.

The corresponding decision to extend the “use” of Belarusian military property was made by the Russian State Duma. This is reported by “Belarusian Gayun”.

The State Duma of the Russian Federation today ratified the protocols on the extension of the use of Russian military facilities on the territory of Belarus. Earlier, in March 2022, these protocols were ratified in Belarus. We are talking about two military facilities that Russia uses “free of charge,” the report says.

It is noted that the first facility is the Baranovichi radio engineering center(70M6 “Volga”) – a stationary radar station, an element of the Russian missile attack warning system (SPRN). Used to detect the launch and tracking of ballistic missiles and space objects.

Also, Russia will use the 43rd communication center of the Russian Navy “Vileyka”(radio station “Antey”) – a communications center that provides direct and feedback communication of the main headquarters of the Russian Navy with nuclear submarines on combat duty in the areas of the Atlantic, Indian and partially Pacific Oceans. It also conducts electronic intelligence and electronic warfare. This is one of several similar radio stations of the unified global permanent communication system in the Ministry of Finance of Russia.

“It is noteworthy that the extension of the placement period is a technical event, since both objects were leased under an agreement dated January 6, 1995, which expired on May 30 2021,” Gayun summarized.
