Russia will create a unique multipurpose anti-tank missile system (ATGM) that will be able to effectively shoot down drones. Bekkhan Ozdoev, the industrial director of the Rostec weapons complex, told RIA Novosti about this.
Ozoev said that special combined homing heads with two channels – thermal and optical – will be developed for the new complex. Ammunition will also be improved, in particular the composition of explosives.
According to him, the creation of the world's first ATGM of this kind will be dealt with by the Instrument Engineering Design Bureau (KBP), which is part of the High-Precision Complexes of the Rostec Corporation. It is noted that now no country in the world has anti-tank systems that could confidently shoot down small-sized and maneuverable targets such as unmanned aerial vehicles. Nevertheless, some ATGMs are capable of hitting fairly large targets, such as helicopters.
Earlier, Ozoev said that the Arena-M active protection complex (KAZ) is capable of “killing” the American anti-tank missile systems (ATGM) FGM-148F Javelin. According to him, created in the state corporation “Arena-M”, allows “to intercept all modern anti-tank guided missiles, including the famous Javelin and Spike, attacking from above.”
