Military expert Chris Osborne recalled the naval aspect of the war in the Black Sea region in the event of a conflict in Ukraine and threatened with the possibility of a war on two fronts. The American magazine National Interest writes about this.

According to Osborne, the NATO army has enough ground, air and sea forces to support Ukraine not only in protecting its borders, but also for organizing an amphibious operation and missile strikes from the Black Sea coast. The author believes that a war on two fronts will seriously weaken the offensive potential of the Russian troops.

“The US Navy is likely to have naval superiority over the Russian Navy, and the landing of the Marine Corps could lead to a conflict on two fronts that Russian forces will have to fight. If the US Navy strikes from the Black Sea, the Russians will certainly have problems holding the occupied territories, ”the expert writes.

On December 22, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov confirmed that Moscow does not want war, but intends to strictly ensure its security. At the same time, he noted that the Russian side warns in advance “hotheads” who want to encroach on the country's security, and all reports of possible aggression in Ukraine are speculation and do not correspond to reality.

On December 23, the British tabloid The Mirror released an article in which a former US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) officer said that training “partisans” in Ukraine to fight against the Russian military could be a disaster for all parties involved. He also warned that such moves would certainly entangle Washington in what might be called “war crimes.”

Earlier, The Washington Post (WP), citing a White House official, reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden plans to provide support to the “partisans” in the event of Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the seizure of a significant part of the territory. A working group, which includes the CIA and other key agencies, is studying the experience of organizing insurgencies during the Afghan war from 1979 to 1989 against the USSR to force Moscow to incur costs without the direct involvement of American troops.
