Russia was equated with Africa in terms of freedom

by alex

Russia was equated with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo in terms of civil and political freedoms. Similar conclusions are contained in the report of the human rights organization Freedom House.

All three countries received 20 points out of 100 possible and were classified as “not free”. Russia is overtaken by a number of African countries, including Rwanda, Djibouti, Zimbabwe, Uganda and Mali. Russia is separated from the USA by 63 points.

The first place was shared by Norway, Sweden and Finland – each of them scored 100 points. Syria takes the last place, it received only one point. It is followed by South Sudan and Eritrea, which received two points each. North Korea got 3 points.

Russia traditionally ranks low in such ratings. In a study by the British company Economist Intelligence Unit, Russia is also on the same line with the Republic of Congo.
