On the night of July 4, drones struck the Azov Optical and Mechanical Plant in the Rostov Region. Footage of these drones in motion was shown online.

It is noted that they are similar to the Iranian “Shaheds”. This is reported by 24 Kanal with reference to the publication Defence Blog.

What UAVs could have attacked the plant in the Rostov region

The publication notes that Ukraine allegedly struck the Rostov region with a new type of attack drone.

There they analyzed the footage of the attack and came to the conclusion that the drones were very similar to the “Shaheds”.

Local residents filmed the moment of the collision, capturing the silhouette of a new type of Ukrainian long-range drone. The remotely controlled aircraft has a mixed delta-wing design similar to the Iranian Shahed series, the publication writes.

At the same time, it is noted that the tail stabilizer of the recorded drones is more similar to the Israeli IAI Harop loitering munition.

Analysts suggest that Ukraine could have created a hybrid UAV design based on the Shahed.

However, there is another option – Russia could have been attacked by “trophy” “Shaheds”.

During Russian attacks on Ukraine, many enemy UAVs are jammed by electronic warfare. It is likely that some of them are repaired, reprogrammed and then used to attack Russia.
