Russia warned Ukraine against a “power scenario” in Donbass

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova warned Ukrainians against trying to carry out a “force scenario” in Donbass. TASS reports on the speech of the diplomat at the briefing.

“We would like to warn the Kiev regime, the hotheads who serve or manipulate it, from further escalation and attempts to implement a force scenario in Donbass,” the agency quoted Zakharova as saying.

She called on the Ukrainian authorities to stop “inventing new agreements and documents to resolve the situation in Donbass” and to fulfill their obligations under the Minsk agreements.

On March 11, it was reported that the shelling of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) damaged a gas pipeline in the vicinity of Donetsk.

On March 10, it became known about clashes between servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the People's Militia of the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) in the village of Mikhailovka (Zolote-5). Ukrainian servicemen violated the ceasefire near the village of Katerinovka.

On February 12, the speaker of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) Oleksiy Arestovich admitted that the Ukrainian military was opening fire on the enemy in Donbas despite the ceasefire. At the same time, according to him, Ukraine cannot initiate the actual cancellation of the ceasefire, since this may be followed by “an impartial reaction of the world community.”

On July 27, 2020, an indefinite ceasefire was declared in Donbass, agreed within the framework of the TCG by representatives of Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE. This is the 21st attempt to comply with the ceasefire agreement.
