Russia violated the treaty: NATO said that they can deploy troops in Eastern Europe

NATO can deploy its troops in Eastern Europe because Russia violated agreement with the Alliance.

In the agreements since 1997, it was said that the Russian Federation would not attack neighboring states and hold consultations with NATO.

This was told by the Deputy Secretary General of the Alliance Mircea Geoana, writes the Guardian.

According to him, Russia violated the agreement with the Alliance by attacking Ukraine. The Russian Federation also stopped consultations on the defense bloc. Joane argues that the 1997 treaty stipulated that NATO and Russia should not build up threatening weapons in certain regions of Europe. Therefore, now NATO has no restrictions on strengthening its flank in Eastern Europe.

“They have made a decision, they have pledged not to attack their neighbors, but they do, and to hold regular consultations with NATO , but they don’t do that either. Therefore, I think that in fact this constituent act is actually not valid because of Russia,” Joan said.

Recall that four warships of the countries entered the port of the capital of Finland -NATO members – USA, Germany and France. American and German vessels took part in military exercises in the Baltic Sea.
