Russia vetoed a UN resolution on the non-placement of nuclear weapons in space

The Russian Federation called this resolution "politicized".

Russia vetoed the UN resolution proposed by the United States and Japan, on the ban on the development and deployment of nuclear weapons in space.

This is reported by AP.

13 out of 15 countries voted for this resolution, Russia opposed it, and China abstained.

The Russian Federation called the resolution “politicized” and said it did not go far enough in banning all weapons in space.

The UN said the resolution called on the entire country to renounce the development and deployment of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction in space under a 1967 treaty that included the United States and Russia, and to agree to the need to verify compliance.

US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said that Russian dictator Putin previously said that the Russian Federation does not intend to place nuclear weapons in space, but Russia's veto shows that Moscow may be hiding something.

Recall that it was previously reported that Andrzej Duda announced his readiness to place NATO nuclear weapons in Poland.

In addition, we previously informed that UN Secretary General announced the risk of nuclear war.
