Russia has vetoed a draft UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate halt to the special operation in Donbass, RIA Novosti reports.

The initiators of this project were the United States and Albania. 11 member countries of the UN Security Council voted in favor of the resolution, three abstained.

According to this project, Russia is obliged to immediately, without any preconditions, withdraw its troops from the territory of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. In addition, according to the text of the draft resolution, Moscow must cancel the decision to recognize the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DNR and LNR). The project calls on all parties to the Minsk agreements to adhere to the established agreements.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky recorded a new video message to the citizens of the country. In it, he stated that the upcoming night of February 26 would be difficult. According to him, many Ukrainian cities, including Kyiv, are under attack. Zelensky noted that “you can't lose the capital.”
