After Russia occupied the Transnistrian region of Moldova 30 years ago, the aggressor country uses part of the ammunition located there for combat preparation, and part of it for smuggling.
In addition, today Russia is ready to use the territory of Transnistria as an additional springboard for aggression not only against Ukraine, but also against Moldova.
On This was stated by the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Vadym Skibitsky.
He noted that 30 years ago, Russia occupied the territory of Pridnestrovie and annually conducts mobilization exercises there with an operational group of its troops deployed on this territory.
“During the exercises, defense and counter-offensive actions are practiced using ammunition from warehouses in the village of Kolbasnaya. Part of the ammunition is used for combat training, some, according to military intelligence, for smuggling“, – said a representative of military intelligence.
He also assessed that the current situation in the unrecognized Pridnestrovie is an obvious signal of the readiness of the Russian Federation to use the territory of the region as an additional springboard for possible aggression against Moldova.
“We are monitoring the development of the situation in Pridnestrovie. There is now a serious struggle between representatives authorities and the special services of the Russian Federation are very active,” Skibitsky said.
“The terrorist attacks committed on the territory of the PMR were aimed at forcing the Pridnestrovian leadership to agree to the expansion of the presence of Russian troops. In addition, explosions at the facilities will be presented as a threat to the population of the region and a signal to the leadership of the Republic of Moldova to abandon the pro-European policy. < strong>The main goal is to leave this region completely under the control of Moscow, as it has been trying to do for 30 years,” the representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense explained.
He noted that the terrorist attacks committed in Transnistria – characteristic handwriting of the FSB of Russia. According to intelligence, everything that happens on the territory of the unrecognized republic is under the control of the Russian special service.
Recall, Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that in Romania, the American BTG “Stryker brigade” approached the border of Moldova because of exacerbations in the unrecognized Transnistria. At the same time, an airfield in the self-proclaimed republic is being prepared for the possible landing of Russian military aircraft.
