Russia called on UNESCO to immediately respond to the RT YouTube incident. On the eve of the video hosting has deleted two German accounts of the publication – RT DE and Der Fehlende Part. Channels disappeared from YouTube and cannot be restored.
“We call on UNESCO to immediately respond to the blatant manifestation of censorship and the suppression of freedom of expression in connection with the deletion of the accounts of RT DE and Der Fehlende Part,” said the message of the Permanent Delegation of the Russian Federation to UNESCO, published on Twitter.
The mission also stressed that they condemn such a manifestation of information aggression and will raise the issue of what happened at the UNESCO meeting on October 6-20, 2021.
“The goal of those behind YouTube's demarche is obvious – to restrict access to information. We believe that the German audience has a right to know,” the Russian office said.
As the website kp.ru previously wrote, Roskomnadzor warned Google about the possibility of blocking YouTube video hosting in Russia if Russia Today's Youtube channels are not restored to the right to disseminate information.
