The mayor of Moscow and the Russian Defense Ministry reported the shooting down of dozens of drones that were flying toward the Russian capital and other regions.
A number of Russian regions were attacked by drones on the night of July 9. In particular, the Moscow region was hit, which caused Sheremetyevo Airport to suspend operations.
This was reported by Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, the Russian Ministry of Defense and Telegram channels.
At night, drones visited a number of Russian regions. For example, residents of Zelenograd in the Moscow region heard loud explosions.
The mayor of Moscow claims that air defense systems allegedly shot down two drones that were flying toward the Russian capital.
“Emergency services specialists are working at the site of the fallen debris,” Sobyanin noted.
A “Carpet” regime was introduced at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport. Restrictions were in place for aircraft departures and arrivals. Residents of villages several dozen kilometers from the airport published videos of UAVs flying overhead.
Russian publics reported attacks on other regions of the Russian Federation, but the details are still unknown. Eyewitnesses filmed drone flights and explosions with flashes.
In turn, the Russian Ministry of Defense claims that 86 drones were allegedly shot down, in particular, in the Moscow region, Kursk, Bryansk, Belgorod, Smolensk, Ryazan, Tula, Voronezh and Oryol regions.
By the way, on the night of July 7, the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the Krasnozavodsk Chemical Plant in the Moscow Region. Pyrotechnics and ammunition are manufactured there, in particular parts for the Shahed drones.
In addition, TSN.ua sources in Ukrainian intelligence reported that long-range drones of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense hit the Ilsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar region of Russia.
