Russia plans to increase military spending by a quarter next year, as evidenced by the draft three-year budget of the Russian Federation, which we were able to get acquainted with journalists.
This is reported by Bloomberg.
The report states that for the next 2025, “defense” spending will amount to 13.2 trillion rubles, while 10.4 trillion rubles were budgeted for that year. This amount is equivalent to 6.2% of Russia's GDP. Based on project data, defense spending in subsequent years will have to be reduced in relation to GDP to 5.6% in 2026 and 5.1% in 2027.
In total, Russia will spend about 40% of the federal budget on its army and other security agencies next year. This amount exceeds the expenditure on education, health care, social policy and economic support taken together.
In addition, the Kremlin has classified budget expenditures for next year at 12.9 trillion rubles, or about 30% of the total estimate.
“The Kremlin continues to increase spending on the war as its forces slowly advance in eastern Ukraine in a war that Western intelligence agencies estimate has caused hundreds of thousands of Russian casualties,” Bloomberg writes.
