Russia to send human torso robot into space in 2025
A Russian robot astronaut in the form of a human torso will fly into space in 2025. Perhaps later. The exact dates have not yet been determined, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the executive director of Android technology, the developer of the machine, Evgeny Dudorov.
It is possible that this robot will settle already at the new Russian orbital station, allowing it to work anywhere on the surface where the manipulator can reach, the specialist said.
According to Dudorov, the timing of the launch of the robot will depend on how the program of flights to the International Space Station will be drawn up in these years. As for the location of the vehicle during the experiment, so far no changes are planned. The plan to send him to the ISS remains in place, the specialist said.
Recall that the creation of the robot began in March. The robot will look like a human torso. It will function in the avatar mode, copying the movements of an operator in a special suit on the ISS or in the Mission Control Center. The robot will be able to perform some typical operations on its own. It will use technologies tested in the Fedor robot, which entered orbit in 2019.
Earlier it was reported that a robot was created in Russia that will monitor oil platforms. Walking machines will help make the inspection of technical structures regular and safe for people. Due to the universal components, the robot will be able to move effectively in both air and water environments.
