If US military forces are sent to Ukraine, the US will face the consequences. This threatened Washington, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Andrei Rudenko, reports RIA Novosti.
The diplomat stressed that the sending of the US military to Ukrainian territory will lead to an escalation of the situation in the region and increase tensions in relations between the West and Moscow. “I believe that, after all, there are reasonable people in Washington who understand the full danger of such actions,” he concluded.
Earlier, the Financial Times wrote with reference to NATO representatives that most of Russia's proposals on security guarantees in Europe are impracticable, but the North Atlantic alliance still resigned itself to the need to negotiate with the Kremlin. At the same time, NATO officials announced the possibility of a deterioration in the diplomatic situation in case of rejection of the Russian proposals.
Prior to that, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Moscow needs an urgent response from Washington to proposals on security guarantees, since the situation could worsen. He recalled that Russia has not yet made a decision on abandoning the moratorium on the deployment of medium and short-range missiles in Europe.
