The readiness of Western countries to “punish” with sanctions all those who have a different position is extremely dangerous for the world order. Russian Ambassador to Japan Mikhail Galuzin said about the impact of such measures, RIA Novosti quotes.

“The problem is that Western countries, led by the United States, are confident in their exclusivity, in their superiority, in the ability to punish those who do not agree with their policies, who independently pursue their national interests. And this is not only a problem for Russia, it is a problem for the entire international community,” he said.

Galuzin recalled that NATO has a long list of aggressive actions against sovereign states. The Ambassador, in particular, spoke about the bombing of the former Yugoslavia in 1999. “It was actually a very big war in Europe, which led to a forceful change in the status quo. And no one, either in NATO or on the European continent at that time, spoke out against such aggression, carried out obviously in violation of international law and the UN Charter, ”he said.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a military operation to demilitarize Ukraine. The head of state stressed that this was done at the request of the authorities of the Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics. In response, Western countries, as well as Japan, have imposed a series of sanctions against Russia.
