Russia seeks to replace aircraft lost during Operation Spider's Web

At the aircraft plant in Kazan, the Russians have built several new hangars for aircraft construction.

After Operation Spider Web, which destroyed dozens of Russian strategic aviation aircraft, Russia began to develop the production capacity of the aircraft plant in Kazan. Here they can build strategic bombers Tu-95MS and Tu-160, as well as long-range aviation aircraft Tu-22M3.

This was reported by the Finnish publication Yle, citing satellite photos of the territory of the Russian enterprise.

Satellite images show that the Russians have built several new hangars at the aircraft plant in Kazan, which are scheduled to be put into operation by the end of 2026.

The largest of the new buildings is approximately 320 metres long and has an area of approximately 19,000 square metres, which is equivalent to an area of almost three football fields.

Satellite images also show active construction of other hangars, likely for the repair and maintenance of other aircraft.

It is known from open sources that the Kazan Aviation Plant will spend about 90 billion rubles (almost $10 billion) on modernizing production.

Currently, construction is behind schedule due to sanctions and a lack of labor. In particular, it is known that the production of the Tu-214 civil aircraft has been effectively disrupted, since only one of the 23 ordered aircraft is ready so far.

The publication noted that it was no coincidence that the expansion of production capacity coincided with the Ukrainian Operation Spider Web.

“Ukraine managed to destroy and damage strategic bombers during drone strikes in early June, when air bases were attacked. Now the Kazan aircraft plant is the only one in Russia that is capable of compensating for the shortage of strategic bombers,” the publication says.

What were the consequences of Operation Spider Web?

As reported earlier, during the special operation “Web”, drone strikes were carried out on four Russian military airfields: “Olenya”, “Ivanovo”, “Dyagilevo” and “Belaya”. The strategic aviation of the aggressor state, which regularly shells peaceful Ukrainian cities, was based there.

The estimated value of the equipment damaged as a result of the Security Service's special operation “Web” exceeds 7 billion US dollars.

Total losses of enemy aircraft amount to 41 units, including A-50, Tu-95, Tu-22, Tu-160, as well as An-12 and Il-78 aircraft.

Let us recall that earlier the Security Service of Ukraine released a video from the special operation “Web”, in which one can see the full flight of one of the FPV drones, which hit the Tu-22M3 strategic bomber.
