Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov responded to the State Department's accusations that Moscow is allegedly guilty of using chemical weapons. He is quoted by RIA Novosti.

Antonov stressed that it is not the first time abroad that “sweeping accusations” have been made against Russia. He recalled that they are not supported by factual evidence.

“We have repeatedly asked foreign partners to share information and offered to establish a professional dialogue in order to clarify the truth. However, our calls continue to remain unanswered, ”the diplomat said. He noted that Moscow has completely eliminated stocks of chemical warfare agents, and this was confirmed by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons. At the same time, the United States has not yet fulfilled its obligations.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Washington is studying the alleged use of chemical weapons against Alexei Navalny.

Alexei Navalny's health deteriorated sharply during the flight from Tomsk to Moscow on August 20, the plane made an emergency landing in Omsk. On August 22, the oppositionist was taken to a Berlin clinic, whose specialists announced the discovery of traces of a substance from the Novichok group in the Russian's body. Russian doctors, who also conducted research, found no poisons. After his recovery, Navalny announced the involvement of the Russian leadership in his poisoning.
