The US decision to ban the export of defense technology to Russia is perplexing, since the supply of military equipment has not been made since the Great Patriotic War. This was reported to TASS by the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC).
According to the service, currently no arms deliveries from the United States to Russia are being carried out and are not planned. So, the last delivery of defense products from the United States was made during the Great Patriotic War under the Lend-Lease program; US President Harry Truman announced its end on August 21, 1945.
On February 2, the United States imposed sanctions on seven high-ranking Russian officials over the situation with Alexei Navalny (founder of the Anti-Corruption Fund, included by the Ministry of Justice in the register of organizations performing the functions of a foreign agent) . Also, Russia will be denied the export of defense technologies, with the exception of the space sector.
Lend-Lease is a state program under which the United States supplied its allies in World War II with ammunition, equipment, food, medical equipment and medicines, strategic raw materials, including oil products. The main clients of the USA were the countries of the British Commonwealth of Nations and the USSR. The transferred property was to be paid on the basis of long-term loans or returned after the war in the United States in the event of Washington's interest.
