The NTC forces continue to push units of the Libyan national army (LNA) with the help of Turkey, which, in particular, provides the Tripoli army air support. The army of field Marshal Khalifa the Haftarot, according to the Pentagon, at the end of may received from Russia a minimum of 14 combat aircraft, including MiG-29 fighters and su-24 bombers. Applied this technique in the last battle for Sirte, was unclear, said Bloomberg.

In Libya after the murder in 2011, who ruled from 1969, Muammar Gaddafi has developed a situation of dual power. Currently, in the East in the city of Tobruk, seat of the Parliament, which supports the Libyan national army is the field Marshal Khalifa Haftorah, and in the West in Tripoli — the national consensus government. While the NTC has actively supported Turkey, and on the side of the LNA are Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
