TikTok deleted almost 4.8 million videos in Russia from April to June 2021 for violating social media rules. This is 27% more than in the first quarter. Russia ranked fourth in this indicator. The USA became the leader.
Leaders in the number of deleted videos:
USA – 11.4 million;
Pakistan – 9.9 million
Brazil – 7.5 million
Russia – 4.8 million;
Indonesia – 4.7 million
In total, 81.5 million videos were removed from April to June. This is less than 1% of all uploaded videos. 93% of them were removed within 24 hours after posting, 94% – before they complained about the video. 87.5% of these videos had zero views. About 17 million deletions were made by the system automatically. During the same period, 4.7 million videos were recovered, deleted by mistake.
Most of all violations are related to the safety of minors – 41%. Almost 21% of violations fell into the category of “illegal actions and regulated goods”, 14% – “nudity and sexual activity of adults”, 8% – “cruelty and shocking content.”
