The Moscow Arbitration Court forced Google to unblock the Tsargrad YouTube channel. This decision was made for the first time on the basis of the priority of national law in disputes with foreign companies, if a Russian is under sanctions.
According to Vedomosti, the court found the blocking of the Tsargrad YouTube channel and the termination of the monetization agreement with it unlawful.
The owner of the Russian TV channel is under US sanctions. After YouTube blocked the channel in 2020, Tsargrad filed a lawsuit against Google's Russian subsidiary, Google LLC.
If Google does not comply with the decision of the Russian court, then the company will be charged a penalty of 100 thousand rubles per day.
It is noted that the claim of “Constantinople” against Google is the first case against the global Internet companies, in which the Russian court recognized its competence to resolve a dispute involving a person under sanctions.
