Russia proposed to strengthen state control over the Internet

by alex

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the role of the state in Internet governance should increase. The author of the proposal, Andrei Krutskikh, believes that now the Internet is turning into the main platform for political manipulation.

Andrey Krutskikh – Director of the International Information Security Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry. He says that social networks, instant messengers and other digital platforms can “under certain conditions” become “a source of destabilization of any society and a resource of pressure on state power.”

Krutskikh said that regulation of the Internet by the private sector proved to be ineffective. Therefore, “Russia has consistently advocated the internationalization of Internet governance, an increase in the role of states in this process.”

We will remind, recently the media wrote that the organizer of the Internet rally on Yandex.Maps was fined in Russia. The reason for this was the “mate on the net”, which was used by other users, not the organizer.
