State Duma deputy from “United Russia” Sultan Khamzaev proposed to introduce the death penalty for a number of criminals, RIA Novosti reports.
Khamzayev said he supports a bill providing for life imprisonment for previously convicted pedophiles for rape of minors. He added that such criminals “should bear even tougher responsibility,” and called it right.
“One thing is for sure. Those who are capable of such a crime deserve not a higher term, but a capital punishment, ”the parliamentarian stressed.
The politician added that the law, which was adopted by the State Duma in the first reading, provides for punishment only for “pedophiles-recidivists”. “But I believe that every such criminal should receive a maximum sentence, immediately after the first crime. I think it would be right to systematically increase the degree of punishment, ”he concluded.
