Russian children will be taught how to counter various threats on the Internet. In the compulsory school curriculum very soon – already in 2022, digital literacy lessons may appear.
However, at first, such classes are in a pilot mode in one of the schools of the Samara region. The Izvestia newspaper was told about this in the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications. According to the publication, the Ministry of Education has admitted that digital literacy lessons can be included in life-saving courses.
The authors of this initiative note that modern children get to know the digital environment very early – according to the Foundation for Assistance to the Development of the Internet, children begin to actively use the World Wide Web from the age of seven, and teenagers aged 14-17 “have practically no prohibitions and restrictions. to go online and 45% of them spend online from one to four hours every day. “
However, the Internet not only opens up new opportunities – such as communication with peers from different cities and countries or access to distance education, but also carries various dangers. Such risks include, for example, computer viruses, questionable online dating, cyberbullying and fakes. According to statistics, about 80% of children have ever faced threats on the Internet, so they must be able to resist cyber threats.
