U.S. intelligence has called Russia the biggest threat this election cycle.
Russia and other US adversaries are seeking to influence the presidential election 2024 through contracted commercial firms and the use of generative artificial intelligence.
This is reported by Bloomberg with reference to American officials.
Russia is the most serious threat in this election cycle, officials from the US Office of the Director of National Intelligence said on condition of anonymity.
According to US officials, Moscow may view the U.S. presidential election as an opportunity to achieve its broader goals of reducing support for Ukraine's military efforts, undermining trust in democratic institutions, and generally undermining trust in the United States.
The intelligence community expects Russia to exploit social divisions in the United States, including campus protests in support of Palestinians in the Gaza war.
It is also reported that Iran plans to act as an agent of chaos in the 2024 elections, sowing internal squabbles and even promoting violence. At the same time, China is taking a more cautious approach, officials say, and is aware of the potential blow that could accompany election interference.

ODNI's External Harm Center will attempt to counter these threats through media analysis. The program will determine whether media is synthetically produced and manipulated by foreign agents through a combination of commercially available and the intelligence community's own tools, officials said.
The Center also oversees the intelligence community's efforts to notify targets of foreign interference, as well as alert the public to new threats.
The publication noted that in October 2020, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence warned that both Iran and Russia obtained US voter registration information in an attempt to interfere in the election.< /strong> Officials have accused the Iranians of posing as the far-right group the Proud Boys to send intimidating emails to voters.
Recall that in February 2024, White House National Security Council coordinator John Kirby said that the American administration warned Russian President Vladimir Putin against interfering in the US presidential election, including through personal statements.
