Russia laid down an icebreaker in Germany

At the Pella Sietas shipyard (controlled by the Russian Pella) in the city of Hamburg (Germany), the laying ceremony for an icebreaker of project 21900M2 for Rosmorport took place, PortNews reports, referring to one of the event participants.

The agency recalls that the corresponding contract between the St. Petersburg Pella and Rosmorport, concluded in 2019 for a total of 7.54 billion rubles, involves the construction of a diesel-electric ship with a displacement of 14,300 tons and a power of 18 megawatts propellers by 2024.

The bmpd blog in LiveJournal notes that Pella, at its main site in Otradnoye, does not have sufficient capacity to build large vessels such as the Project 21900M2 icebreakers.

In October, the Zvezda enterprise announced successful qualification tests of gearboxes for the power plant of the Project 22350 frigate, which were previously purchased by Russia from Ukraine.
