The first base module for the new Russian space service station is already in operation. This was announced by Dmitry Rogozin, General Director of Roscosmos. According to him, the Energia rocket and space corporation has been tasked in 2025 to ensure its readiness for launch into the target orbit. The new module is based on the scientific and energy module, which was previously supposed to be launched to the International Space Station in 2024.
On April 18, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Government Yuri Borisov said that Russia could withdraw from the ISS project in 2025 due to the fact that the state of the international station “leaves much to be desired.” At the same time, as Dmitry Rogozin specified, there is no talk of flooding the ISS in 2025. Russia will withdraw from the project gradually, as its national station develops. According to the latest agreement between Roscosmos and NASA, the ISS will be in operation until at least 2024.
