Russia has begun actively recruiting labor migrants from Central Asia to fight in the war against Ukraine. They are lured with promises of “quick money” and then sent to the most dangerous parts of the front.

Channel 24 reports with reference to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

What is known about labor migrants in the ranks of the Russian army

First of all, Russians recruit labor migrants who come to Russia in search of work. Representatives of the occupation forces mislead them, promising them “quick earnings” under short-term contracts.

According to the GUR, most of these “volunteers” die in battle. Among the most recently liquidated mercenaries are citizens of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan: Umarov Sirojiddin Sabirjanovich and Kholbuvozoda Muhammad Faizullo, both born in 1984.

Intelligence also noted that mobilized migrants are being formed into separate combat units, which are mainly sent to the most dangerous sections of the front.

“Even if they survive service at the front, such combatants cannot return to normal life: in their countries of origin, they face criminal prosecution for participating in armed formations of a foreign state with the prospect of long-term imprisonment,” the GUR noted.

Let us recall that the GUR also recently published evidence of cannibalism in the Russian army. In a radio intercept, one can hear that a serviceman with the call sign “Foma” was eaten by a “brother”.
