China has never been a party to agreements limiting nuclear weapons, the ambassador emphasized.
For China, Russia is a greater nuclear threat than the United States.
This opinion was expressed in an interview with TSN.ua by the country's extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to Japan Sergey Korsun.
“China has never hidden and does not hide its desire to increase its nuclear potential. Compared to the Russian Federation and the United States, it has dozens of times fewer warheads. I do not remember the exact number of warheads that China currently has, there was talk of 300 or something like that. But we understand that these statistics may not correspond to reality. Nevertheless, the parameters are as follows: the Russian Federation has 6,000; the United States has about the same, China has 300. Why Beijing is working to increase its nuclear potential – we are not discussing this, because they have the right to do so. China has never been a party to agreements that would limit nuclear weapons. Moreover, they refused the (US – ed.) proposal to enter into negotiations,” the ambassador noted.
Recall that the DPRK successfully tested a missile with nuclear charges.
