Maria Zakharova
Elections in the United States must be fair and consistent with the country's constitution. At a briefing on November 5, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova hoped for this, RIA Novosti reported.
Zakharova stressed that the election of the US leader is “the exclusive right of American citizens who deserve to have their votes properly counted.” In her opinion, the most important thing in the current situation is to prevent riots.
In the same speech, the diplomat criticized the American electoral system: she pointed out that the latest elections show its obvious flaws and reveal how outdated it is.
In the United States, the counting of votes for candidates for the presidency of the country continues. The current head of state, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Joe Biden are fighting for the top post. In many states, the difference between presidential contenders is tenths of a percent.
Trump said that he suspects the enemy of rigging the votes, and demanded that they stop counting in one of the states. Both candidates created special funds to fight for the purity of the electoral procedure.
