The occupiers are forced to send reinforcements.

The Russian military command has transferred a group of 5,000 troops from the front line in Ukraine to the Kursk region Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This is stated in the report of the Institute for the Study of War.

Analysts have suggested that the next stages of military operations on the territory of the Russian Federation will most likely require an increase in Russian manpower and material resources in this area.

The Wall Street Journal reported on August 17, citing a source, that Russian troops redeployed “several” incomplete brigades totaling 5,000 people from Ukraine to the Kursk region in the middle of the week – from August 6 to 13.

The source of the publication also noted that the occupation forces redeployed an incomplete brigade from the Donetsk region.

As of On August 15, units of the Russian 200th Motorized Rifle Brigade (14th Army Corps of the Leningrad Military District) also arrived in Kursk. Analysts have recently observed elements of the brigade that have been fighting near Chasy Yar in Donetsk Oblast in recent months.

“The WSJ report of 5,000 Russian troops partially coincides with the report that as of August 11, Russian forces had redeployed up to 11 battalions to the front line in Kursk Oblast,” the analysts noted.

Recall that the first news of the Russian defense forces' offensive in Kursk Oblast was on August 6.

Until August 12, Ukraine did not officially confirm the operation in the region, until Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi announced that Ukraine controls almost 1,000 square kilometers of Kursk Oblast Russia.

The exact number of captured Russians is unknown, but Ukrainian officials (in particular, Syrsky) stated that on certain days of the operation hundreds of Russian soldiers surrendered.

Ukraine has formed a buffer zone in the Kursk region. Ukraine plans to open humanitarian corridors there for the evacuation of civilians, allow UN and Red Cross representatives, and arrange for food and medicine supplies.
