Russia has successfully tested the newest Pantsir-M anti-aircraft missile and artillery system (ZRAK), the Izvestia newspaper reports, citing sources in the Ministry of Defense and the military-industrial complex.
The tests of the weapon, called “Super-Pantsir” in the newspaper's publication, took place in mid-October aboard the small missile ship “Odintsovo” Project 22800 “Karakurt” of the Baltic Fleet. During the test, the ZRAK destroyed all small-sized M-6 air targets fired by the Su-27 fighters of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation.
According to the newspaper, during the tests, the repulsion of a massive air raid of a simulated enemy was practiced. The Super-Pantsir, consisting of eight rocket launchers and two automatic cannons, “will make Russian small ships virtually invulnerable to air strikes,” the newspaper said.
In September, Defense One reported that during exercises at the Yuma Proving Ground in Arizona, the US Army used drones, super-guns, ground robots and satellites “to massively test their future war plans.” According to the newspaper, during the event, several objects of the imaginary enemy were destroyed, imitating, in particular, the Russian anti-aircraft missile-gun complex “Pantsir”.
