NATO countries should already be preparing for possible aggression from Russia and increasing defense spending, Rutte believes.
Russia is rebuilding its military machine at an unprecedented rate. It is several times ahead of NATO in weapons production, attracting China, Iran and the DPRK.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced this in an interview with The New York Times.
He stressed that Moscow's advantage in military production poses a real threat to all Euro-Atlantic security.
“We are facing a huge geopolitical challenge. And this is, first and foremost, Russia, which is rebuilding itself at a pace and speed that has no analogues in modern history,” Rutte noted.
According to him, the Kremlin does not act alone: the North Koreans, Chinese, and Iranians are actively involved in the supply and support of aggression against Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that Russia gained an advantage in the drone war in Ukraine thanks to its large financial resources, production lines located far from the front line, and especially assistance from China.
In turn, Beijing has repeatedly denied supplying drones or weapons components to Russia.
