Russia has stopped the design of a lunar super-heavy rocket

Russia has stopped the design of a super-heavy rocket for flights to the moon, but it is possible that after clarifying the work program, they can restore it. This is reported by RIA Novosti, referring to the statement of Dmitry Baranov, General Director of the Samara Rocket and Space Center “Progress”.

He stressed that the work was stopped at the stage of technical design. Baranov also noted that the work can be resumed if such a decision is made by Roskosmos. According to him, now the enterprise “is working to clarify the program for the creation of a space rocket complex for a super-heavy carrier rocket.”

In August, it was reported that a Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle with 34 OneWeb satellites was launched from Baikonur.

In addition, Roskosmos decided to postpone the launch of the Russian automatic station Luna-25. The postponement of the launch of the spacecraft is associated with the need for additional confirmation of the declared characteristics of its instruments, assemblies and propulsion system “in conditions as close as possible to outer space.”
