Russia’s Permanent Representative to the European Union (EU) Vladimir Chizhov said on the Rossiya 24 TV channel that the country is ready to return to the meeting of the Russia-EU Council at any time. He told what is needed to resume the dialogue.
Chizhov stressed that the Russia-EU Council is a whole structure within which summits were held twice a year. The Permanent Representative recalled that the last meeting between Russia and the EU took place on January 28, 2014. Despite the current political situation, the interaction between the country and the European Union continues. To resume the conversation with Russia, Chizhov advised the EU to accumulate political will.
“It’s been eight years. So, it’s high time, as they say. But for this, the European Union must, I would put it so carefully and politically correctly, accumulate a sufficient amount of political will. But it won’t be up to us. Where to find us is well known,” Chizhov advised.
Earlier, Chizhov announced the independent isolation of the European Union from the security dialogue. Moscow saw no added value for the EU’s participation in the discussions held in Brussels and Geneva. The European Union has blocked the development of the conversation on many issues, Chizhov stressed.
