Scientists from the Pasteur Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology of Rospotrebnadzor have created and registered the first enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative determination of antibodies to coronavirus infection in the Russian Federation. This was announced on Thursday, April 15, on the official website of Rospotrebnadzor.
– Russian experts have created the first enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the determination of antibodies in people infected with coronavirus infection, with symptoms of the disease, or who have been ill in the past or have been in contact with coronavirus in the past in the absence of clinical symptoms.
The indication for the use of the new Russian text is the need to assess the development of antibody immunity in patients infected with coronavirus during therapy. In addition, these tests can be used to analyze the formation of antibodies in people who have recovered from coronavirus or to assess the level of population immunity in healthy people.
Rospotrebnadzor specialists noted that using this test system, it is possible to assess the severity of the immune response from a very low level to a very high level, therefore this set of reagents is very useful for deciding on additional vaccination against coronavirus.
Earlier, the epidemiologist of Rospotrebnadzor Natalya Pshenichnaya explained the difference between antibodies M and G to coronavirus. The expert noted that, first of all, human immunity reacts to the effect of infection by producing M.
