In Russia, by 2025, they want to create an ultraviolet space telescope “Spectrum-UV”, which will become an analogue of the American Hubble instrument. According to the data on the state procurement website, 3.68 billion rubles were allocated for the creation of the apparatus. At the same time, since 2016, 2.9 billion rubles have already been given for these purposes. The development will be carried out by the structure of Roscosmos Scientific and Production Association (NPO) named after S. A. Lavochkin.
Scientists will launch the Spectrum-UV observatory directly into space. There it will register electromagnetic radiation in the ranges in which the earth's atmosphere is opaque. Thus, the device will be able to “see” objects many times better than telescopes working from the Earth. In terms of its characteristics, Spectr-UV will be similar to the American Hubble.
The task of the Russian telescope will be to study physical processes in the early Universe, the formation of stars, the evolution of galaxies, the atmosphere of planets and exoplanets, etc. The observatory is planned to be launched into space on the Angara-A5M rocket from the Vostochny cosmodrome in October 2025.
In 2019, Russia launched the Spektr-RG space observatory from Baikonur. With its help, scientists want to draw up a detailed map of the world, as well as study hundreds of thousands of galaxy clusters, millions of black holes and neutron stars. In addition, the researchers intend to clarify the influence of dark matter and energy on the observed large-scale structure of the world. The device scans the sky in the X-ray range.
In 2011, Russia launched the Spektr-R radio telescope into space. At the beginning of 2019, scientists lost contact with him – the device stopped receiving commands from Earth.
